Electronic signing is one of the digital cornerstones of optimizing business processes and ensuring a higher level of security in document management.
Are you wondering which e-signing service is right for your business? Many are on the market, so the decision is challenging. We’ve prepared a brief comparison of two services for you: American Docusign and BetrSign®, a product of Slovenian expertise and years of development.
We reviewed some key functionalities and the prices of individual subscription plans.
It's all about the plans.
We generally decide on a subscription plan based on two criteria: the range of functionalities needed to meet our business needs and, of course, the price.
Both DocuSign and BetrSign offer a 30-day free trial, which is usually enough to get a feel for how it works, what functionalities it provides, the level of security it ensures, and the legal requirements it meets before using it in daily operations.
Both providers offer three packages that increase in price and functionalities, and if you can't find what you're looking for, a custom package can be tailored to your needs.
Since the free trial costs nothing, you can try both services. For paid packages, we've prepared a comparison.
Entry-level Package
The most affordable package from both providers is the "Personal Plan," which costs $15 for DocuSign and €10 for BetrSign, per user per month.
DocuSign's Personal Plan is developed for individuals or freelancers with basic electronic signing needs. It allows you to send five "envelopes" (each can contain multiple documents) per month via the web or mobile app or through an integrated solution in your business information systems. Signers can sign documents for free in the order you set or simultaneously. The service sends reminders, and you can set a signing deadline. Basic input fields can be added for additional signer information, and templates can be saved for future use. An audit trail lets you check when and who opened and signed the document. Document management supports 14 languages, and signing is supported in 44 languages.
BetrSign's Basic Plan allows sending unlimited documents to an unlimited number of signers on a personal computer, tablet, and smartphone. Access to documents is possible with single-factor authentication, and signing is done with a simple click on the signature field. Signer information and document drafts are automatically saved, and you can save document templates and create personalized messages for signers. BetrSign is used by 1.603.346 users in 17 countries, and language support is extensive, with Slovenian support for domestic users. Various interactive fields can be added to documents for signer information (checkbox, text field, personal field, date field, radio button, dropdown list). Document statuses can be checked anytime, and automatic reminders or resend options are available for less responsive signers.
Advanced Package
DocuSign's Standard Plan costs $45 per month per user and includes all Personal Plan features. You can send unlimited envelopes, share templates with colleagues, and communicate with them via comments. Detailed reports on user activity, sent envelopes, and created templates are available. Invitations and signing pages can be branded, and the package includes scheduling and pre-filled fields. DocuSign also allows smooth and secure transfer of document access rights if team changes occur.
BetrSign's Advanced Plan costs €15 per month per user and includes all Personal Plan features. It adds two-factor authentication for higher security, captures handwritten signatures (HTML5) on mobile devices, and tracks the history of all signed documents. Messages and signing pages can be branded with your company's logo and colors.
Top-tier Package
DocuSign's Business Pro Plan costs $65 monthly and includes all Standard Package features. It allows sending documents to recipients on an imported contact list, enables signers to upload their documents, and includes advanced fields with conditional logic and calculations. Templates can be locked to prevent modifications. Bulk sending and payment collection are also included.
BetrSign's Premium Plan costs €25 per month per user and includes all Business Plan features. It adds authentication with a local qualified digital certificate and the Slovenian electronic ID card. At the point of sale, a signature pad can capture handwritten signatures. Signers can use a qualified digital certificate or qualified electronic seal in the cloud. A plugin allows document upload directly from MS Word.
These are some functionalities for comfortable work in various signing scenarios. If they don't suffice, a custom plan can always be arranged.
The devil is in the details.
Just kidding, there's no devil; you can decide on the perfect service based on the details.
DocuSign's entry package limits the number of "envelopes" you can send to five per month in the entry package, which is a big downside. Imagine you've sent your documents five times this month, but you urgently need to send another document. You'll only be able to resolve this inconvenience by contacting a sales representative, which will cost you. BetrSign already allows unlimited document sending to unlimited signers and offers responsive support in a local language.
Both services prioritize security and legal compliance, which are the essence of electronic signing. Both providers are on the list of trusted service providers in accordance with the eIDAS Regulation. Your documents can only be accessed and signed by those you have authorized.
When it comes to managing costs, BetrSign is more affordable with each subscription package, considering the offered functionalities.
Here, we've touched on some similarities and differences between DocuSign and BetrSign e-signing services. Before deciding on one or the other, consider your business needs, review the functionalities on their websites, try them out for free, or consult with both sales teams.
